I was quickly painting up a regiment of Canaanites for a game and I thought
I'd throw caution to the wind and base them for impetus.
I did nothing special just glued to the bigger base and added the normal
sand and grass. Though I can see great potential for dioramas.
The style immediately appealed to me even before I'd begun to under coat the base!
Units would look even better with commands not to mention
imaginative touches like bushes or casualties etc.
I was immediately sold and this is the way forward for my ancients.
Great looking additions!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil!
DeleteI love the impetus basing, it allows to create movement and do some nice mini dioramas on each base, the attraction to putting flowers, rocks and bushes really helps too.
ReplyDeleteAs a added bonus I really like the rules too
Cheers
Matt
I'm just working through a game of Impetus right now. I am enjoying the way the game plays but am finding getting the rules right a bit of a learning curve! :) I think they might end up being my rules of choice though.
DeleteThey look very good.
ReplyDeleteI started using WRG basing for my ancients 40 years ago, and absolutely nothing is ever going to change that for my forces, though! :-)
Ha ha Well my Roman army is 39 years old and I decided I'm not going to rebase them! However the ability to wheel a unit with out realigning the bases etc is very nice! So I might redo the others as I go along.
DeleteGreat to see these after you described them on the weekend Dave. They look beaut!
ReplyDeleteThanks James. I've rebased all my Bibicals over while my internet's been down. So much easier to use! Slowly leaning Impetus.
DeleteThe ability to do diorama basing was one of the first things that attracted me to Impetus. It is one of the few things left for me to try (a project is underway).
ReplyDeleteIts much more appealing. Noticed a 7yr war player has his battalions based this way too!
